CO2RE Laser Resurfacing FAQ
Medical Director & board-certified surgeon, Dr. Parag Gandhi, has over 14 years of CO2 Laser experience and is an expert with the CO2RE® Fractional Laser.
What is the CO2RE® Fractional Laser?
The CO2RE is a fractional therapy laser for skin resurfacing that enables Dr. Gandhi to precisely target and effectively treat the skin’s surface, middle and deep dermal levels simultaneously. Your skin is treated with a matrix of laser light points that provide maximum precision and control when it comes to the intensity of treatment, pattern and depth of ablation. The result is a treatment that is fast, more comfortable and requires less downtime than traditional resurfacing, enabling you to get back to your daily routine much quicker.
How do I know if the CO2RE Fractional Laser is right for me?
Ideal candidates are typically in their 30s and older with skin damaged by sun exposure, age spots, fine lines, discoloration, rough texture and other skin imperfections. It is ideal for anyone seeking younger looking skin without the long downtime associated with conventional resurfacing procedures.
What is the CO2RE Fractional Laser procedure like?
The CO2re is an in-office procedure that requires a pre-and post-treatment topical skin regimen with medication to ensure proper healing and comfort during the procedure. Comfort levels may vary based on the depth and length of treatment. For your comfort, a local and topical anesthetic will be given pre-treatment with a mild oral sedative and analgesic if necessary. Our staff and providers are committed to your well-being and comfort during our procedures.
How many treatments will I need?
Generally, you will see the difference you are seeking after the first treatment. In the days after the treatment, your skin will gradually look softer and smoother. The age spots and uneven texture will start to show immediate improvement. An ongoing underlying rejuvenation process with collagen deposition in your skin will continue for the months to come. Subsequent treatments with the CO2RE laser can also be scheduled with your provider.
What can I expect after my procedure?
Immediately following the procedure, you will experience some heat and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn for several hours. Your skin will likely have a reddish appearance until the following day. In the subsequent days, pigmentation will come to the skin surface and gradually exfoliate during your cycles of cleansing and moisturizing. This natural process will continue for 7 to 10 days. You may begin using mineral makeup as needed about one week out from your treatment, which will be confirmed by your provider based on your healing. You will be advised to minimize sun exposure for one month following treatment. The skin will continue to have underlying plumping and improvement for about 6 months following your laser treatment, and our providers and staff will advise you on the skin care regimen that will best maximize your long-term results.
How much do treatments cost?
Cost will depend on the area and zones being treated, the conditions being treated, and the depth and nature of the treatments themselves. Please schedule a personalized consultation with Dr. Gandhi so that our staff and providers can advise you on the best customized treatment plan to meet your goals.
